Odoo can cost nothing for the software (Community, or the One App Free plan), or a per-user monthly subscription for Enterprise. For most UK businesses the larger cost is implementation. Indicative market ranges run from about £8,000 for a small, focused rollout to £45,000–£100,000+ for multi-company or heavily customised projects, with UK partner day rates typically £600–£1,200.
Summary answer: The total cost of Odoo in the UK has three parts. First, the licence: Odoo Community is free to download and self-host, and Odoo Enterprise is charged per user per month on the Standard or Custom plan, as listed on odoo.com/pricing. Second, hosting: Odoo Online is included in the subscription, Odoo.sh is charged separately by workers, storage and staging environments, and your own servers carry your own infrastructure and maintenance costs. Third, implementation by a partner: indicative UK market ranges, not a quote, are roughly £8,000–£20,000 for a small business, £20,000–£45,000 for a mid-size project and £45,000–£100,000+ for multi-company or heavily customised work. UK-specific items that move the budget include Making Tax Digital VAT setup, connecting a separate payroll provider, migrating from Sage, Xero or QuickBooks, bank feeds, e-commerce integrations, training and ongoing support.
Odoo subscription prices in November 2026
Odoo publishes its subscription prices on the Odoo pricing page. The page sets the currency from the visitor’s location. When we loaded it on 3 November 2026, it showed US dollar prices, and our attempt to switch the page to the United Kingdom still returned dollars. We have therefore shown the prices exactly as the page displayed them, in USD. A visitor in the UK should see the equivalent pounds sterling prices, so check the page yourself before you budget, and confirm whether the figure includes VAT.
| Plan (as shown on odoo.com, 3 November 2026) | Billed annually | Billed monthly | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| One App Free | Free | Free | One app with unlimited users, hosted on Odoo Online |
| Standard | US$16.90 per user per month (US$13.50 with the first-year discount) | US$21.10 per user per month (US$16.90 with the discount) | All apps, hosted on Odoo Online, no custom modules |
| Custom | US$32.00 per user per month (US$25.50 with the first-year discount) | US$40.00 per user per month (US$32.00 with the discount) | All apps plus Odoo Studio, multi-company and custom modules; Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or on-premise |
| Light User | US$5.90 per user per month | Employee self-service such as time off, expenses and attendance | |
Odoo states that the discount is valid for 12 months for the users you order at the start, so budget for the full price from year two. Monthly billing is only available for cloud hosting. The on-premise option is billed annually. Light User licences are arranged through an Odoo advisor rather than bought online.
Community vs Enterprise: what “free” really means
Odoo Community is the open-source edition. The licence is free and you host it yourself. That makes it attractive for tight budgets, but the savings on licences are often spent elsewhere:
- You pay for servers, backups, security patches and version upgrades, either in-house or through a partner.
- Several features UK finance teams rely on are Enterprise-only. Odoo’s bank synchronisation, for example, needs a valid Enterprise subscription.
- Odoo’s built-in MTD VAT submission sits in the UK Accounting Reports module, which depends on Enterprise accounting reports. Community users usually need a third-party module or bridging software instead.
- Gaps are often filled with community modules or custom code, which then need testing at every upgrade.
Odoo Enterprise adds the full app set, Odoo’s own support and upgrades, and the UK localisation features covered below. For most UK companies with more than a handful of users and a VAT registration, Enterprise is the cheaper option over three years once support and workarounds are counted.
Hosting options and what changes cost-wise
Where Odoo runs affects both your subscription and the work a partner has to do.
| Hosting | Plan needed | Extra hosting cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Odoo Online | One App Free, Standard or Custom | None; Odoo lists unmetered storage up to 100GB | Standard processes, no custom modules, fastest start |
| Odoo.sh | Custom | Charged separately by workers, storage and staging environments; the hosting price does not include the Enterprise licence | Custom modules, integrations and a proper test environment |
| Your own servers or cloud account | Custom (on-premise, annual billing) or Community | Your own infrastructure, monitoring, backups and upgrade work | Strict data-location or IT policy requirements |
A useful rule: if you can live without custom code, Odoo Online keeps both hosting and upgrade costs lowest. Once you need custom modules, Odoo.sh usually costs less to run safely than your own servers, because staging, backups and upgrades are built in.
Indicative UK implementation costs and partner day rates
The figures below are indicative market ranges, not a quote. They are based on published UK partner pricing guides from 2026 and cover implementation fees only, before licences and VAT. Your price depends on scope, data quality and how much your processes differ from standard Odoo.
| Project size | Typical scope | Indicative implementation range (not a quote) | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 5–15 users, 3–5 standard apps, one company, simple data migration | £8,000–£20,000 | 4–8 weeks (focused rollout) |
| Mid-size | 15–50 users, 5–8 apps, several integrations, inventory or projects | £20,000–£45,000 | 2–4 months |
| Larger or complex | 50+ users, multi-company, manufacturing or heavy customisation | £45,000–£100,000+ | 4–6+ months |
| Who does the work | Indicative UK day rate (not a quote) |
|---|---|
| UK Odoo partner, functional consultant | £600–£1,200 per day; senior specialists up to around £1,400 |
| Custom module development | £800–£1,500 per developer day at UK partners |
| Freelance Odoo consultant or developer | £350–£700 per day |
Partners with offshore or blended delivery teams can come in below these UK rates. Lower day rates only save money if the estimate of days is realistic, so always compare total effort as well as the rate.
UK cost drivers, line by line
These items explain most of the difference between two quotes for the same number of users. Day estimates are typical; the pound figures apply the day rates above and are indicative, not a quote.
| Cost driver | What is involved | Typical effort | Indicative cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Making Tax Digital VAT setup | UK chart of accounts and VAT taxes, VAT periods, connecting the company to HMRC and a test submission | 1–2 days | £600–£2,400 |
| UK payroll | Odoo has no UK payroll localisation, so most UK firms keep a payroll provider and post payroll journals into Odoo | 1–4 days | £600–£4,800, plus the payroll provider’s own fees |
| Migration from Sage, Xero or QuickBooks | Customers, suppliers, products, chart of accounts mapping, opening balances and open invoices | 3–10 days; more for full transaction history | £2,000–£10,000+ |
| Bank feeds | Odoo bank synchronisation through open banking providers (Enterprise only), plus reconciliation rules | 0.5–1 day | £300–£1,200 |
| Shopify and Amazon | Odoo’s Amazon connector, or a Shopify connector from the Odoo Apps Store or a partner-built integration; product and stock mapping | 2–8 days per channel | £1,500–£8,000 per channel, plus any app fees |
| Payment providers | Online payments through providers Odoo supports, such as Stripe or PayPal, and matching payouts in Accounting | 0.5–2 days | £300–£2,400 |
| Training | Role-based sessions for finance, sales, warehouse and managers | 2–15 days | £1,200–£12,000 |
| Support plan | Partner help desk, small changes, upgrade support | Ongoing | Often 15–25% of the implementation fee per year |
On MTD, HMRC’s VAT Notice 700/22 requires VAT-registered businesses to keep digital records and submit VAT returns from compatible software. Odoo’s UK localisation documentation describes VAT return submission through HMRC’s MTD API, Bacs payment files and a Construction Industry Scheme report. Our Odoo Making Tax Digital guide covers the setup in detail.
On payroll, the United Kingdom does not appear in Odoo’s list of payroll localisations. Odoo’s UK documentation describes a connector to Employment Hero as one alternative, but in practice most UK companies integrate the payroll provider they already use.
Three worked examples
Each example shows the assumptions behind it. Implementation figures are indicative market ranges, not a quote. Subscription figures use the USD prices odoo.com showed us on 3 November 2026 at annual billing; UK buyers should repeat the sum with the GBP prices shown to them.
Example 1: 8-user services firm moving from Xero
- Scope: Accounting, Invoicing, CRM, Sales and Project on the Standard plan, Odoo Online, one company.
- UK items: MTD VAT setup, bank feeds, Stripe for card payments, payroll journals imported from the existing provider.
- Migration: contacts, chart of accounts and opening balances from Xero; no full history.
- Effort: 12–18 partner days at £650–£900, including two days of training.
- Indicative implementation: about £8,000–£16,000. Subscription: 8 users × US$16.90 × 12 = US$1,622.40 a year at full price (US$1,296 in year one with the discount).
- Timeline: 4–8 weeks.
Example 2: 25-user wholesaler and online seller moving from Sage
- Scope: Accounting, Sales, Purchase, Inventory with barcode scanning, and CRM on the Custom plan with Odoo.sh for two small custom modules.
- UK items: MTD VAT, bank feeds, Shopify and Amazon channels, Stripe and PayPal, payroll provider journals.
- Migration: products, stock levels, customers, suppliers and two years of open items from Sage.
- Effort: 30–50 days at £700–£950, including five days of training.
- Indicative implementation: about £21,000–£48,000. Subscription: 25 users × US$32.00 × 12 = US$9,600 a year at full price, plus Odoo.sh hosting.
- Timeline: 2–4 months.
Example 3: 60-user manufacturing group with three UK companies
- Scope: multi-company Accounting with inter-company transactions, Manufacturing, Inventory, Purchase, Sales, Quality and Maintenance on the Custom plan and Odoo.sh.
- UK items: MTD VAT for each VAT registration, consolidated reporting, bank feeds, payroll provider integration.
- Migration: QuickBooks for finance plus a legacy production system with bills of materials.
- Effort: 70–120 days at £750–£1,000, including custom modules and phased training.
- Indicative implementation: about £52,000–£120,000. Subscription: 60 users × US$32.00 × 12 = US$23,040 a year at full price, plus Odoo.sh hosting; shop-floor staff may qualify as Light Users.
- Timeline: 4–6+ months.

How long a UK Odoo implementation takes
Time and cost move together, because most of the budget is consultant days. These are the realistic bands we see:
- Focused rollout: 4–8 weeks. A few standard apps, one company, clean data and a decision-maker who is available every week.
- Mid-size: 2–4 months. Several departments, inventory or projects, two or three integrations and a migration from Sage or Xero.
- Multi-company or heavily customised: 4–6+ months. Inter-company flows, manufacturing, custom modules or a phased go-live across several entities.
The most common causes of delay are late data, unclear owners for each process and scope added after design is signed off. Plan go-live away from your VAT return deadline and your year end. The Odoo implementation services page explains how a phased plan is usually structured.
How to compare Odoo proposals
Two proposals for the same project can differ by tens of thousands of pounds. Put them side by side using the same questions:
- Total days by workstream. Ask for analysis, configuration, migration, integrations, training and testing as separate lines, not one lump sum.
- What is excluded. Check whether licences, Odoo.sh, third-party apps, the payroll provider and VAT are in or out.
- Data migration scope. Opening balances only, or full history? How many trial loads are included?
- Integrations. Is each connector an Odoo app, a third-party app or custom code that you will need to maintain?
- Customisation. How many custom modules, and who maintains them at the next Odoo version upgrade?
- Support after go-live. Hours included, response times, and the cost of upgrades.
- Who does the work. Names and certifications of the consultants, and how much is delivered by a UK team versus a remote team.
Our guide on how to choose an Odoo implementation partner includes a fuller checklist.
How to keep your Odoo budget under control
- Start with standard Odoo. Change a process before you customise the software. Each custom module adds cost at every upgrade.
- Clean your data before migration. Remove old customers, duplicate products and unused accounts. Our Sage to Odoo migration and Xero to Odoo migration guides list what to prepare.
- Use connectors before custom code. Our Odoo integration services page covers the common UK connections.
- Train key users first. Internal champions who can train colleagues reduce paid Odoo training days.
- Agree support in advance. A defined Odoo support plan is cheaper than paying ad hoc rates after go-live.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Odoo cost per user in the UK?
Odoo Enterprise is charged per user per month on the Standard or Custom plan. When we checked odoo.com/pricing on 3 November 2026 it showed US dollars: US$16.90 (Standard) and US$32.00 (Custom) per user per month billed annually, before first-year discounts. Visitors in the UK should see GBP prices, so check the pricing page from the UK before budgeting.
Is Odoo free for UK businesses?
Odoo Community is free to download and self-host, and Odoo's One App Free plan gives one app with unlimited users on Odoo Online. You still pay for hosting, upgrades and any partner help. Enterprise-only features, such as bank synchronisation and the built-in MTD VAT submission, require a paid subscription.
How much does Odoo implementation cost in the UK?
As indicative market ranges, not a quote: about £8,000–£20,000 for a small business, £20,000–£45,000 for a mid-size project and £45,000–£100,000+ for multi-company or heavily customised work. These cover partner fees only, before licences and VAT, and depend on scope, data migration and integrations.
What is a typical Odoo partner day rate in the UK?
Published UK partner pricing guides put functional consultants at roughly £600–£1,200 per day, with senior specialists up to around £1,400, and custom development at £800–£1,500 per developer day. Freelancers often charge £350–£700 per day. These are indicative market ranges, not a quote, so compare total days as well as rates.
Does Odoo have UK payroll?
No. The United Kingdom is not in Odoo's list of payroll localisations. Odoo's UK documentation describes an Employment Hero connector as one alternative, but most UK companies keep their existing payroll provider and post payroll journals into Odoo Accounting. Budget roughly 1–4 days of partner time for this link.
Can Odoo submit VAT returns under Making Tax Digital?
Yes. Odoo's UK localisation sends VAT returns to HMRC through the MTD VAT API from the UK Accounting Reports module, after a one-time connection. This relies on Odoo Enterprise accounting reports. Setup with a partner typically takes 1–2 days, covering taxes, VAT periods and a test submission.
How long does an Odoo implementation take in the UK?
A focused rollout with a few standard apps usually takes 4–8 weeks. A mid-size project with several departments and integrations takes 2–4 months. Multi-company or heavily customised projects take 4–6+ months. Clean data and available decision-makers keep projects within these bands.
Is Odoo.sh included in the Odoo subscription?
No. Odoo Online hosting is included in the subscription, but Odoo.sh is charged separately by workers, storage and staging environments, and its hosting price does not include the Enterprise licence. Odoo.sh is used with the Custom plan when you need custom modules.
