No-code or code
What Can Odoo Studio Do, and When Do You Need Code?
Odoo Studio covers many customizations without code; a custom module is needed when Odoo must do something new.
We recommend an approach for each change and explain the trade-offs in cost and upkeep.
Studio: fields and views
Add fields, reorder buttons and tabs, change list columns and Kanban stages, and hide what users do not need.
Studio: automation rules
Send emails, schedule activities, update records or, in Odoo 20, start activity plans when a condition is met.
Studio: PDF reports
Adjust quotation, invoice and delivery slip layouts in the report editor, with your branding and extra fields.
Studio: approval rules
Require a manager’s approval before an action, such as confirming an order, can run.
Code: new business logic
Complex calculations, new data models and changes to standard behaviour need a custom module.
Code: Community and integrations

UAE e-invoicing
How Does E-Invoicing Affect Your Invoice Customizations?
Under UAE e-invoicing the structured invoice data matters as much as the printed layout. Custom fields that feed your invoices should be planned so the data your provider needs comes from standard Odoo fields. The timetable:
- 1 July 2026: pilot with selected businesses, and voluntary adoption opens;
- 1 January 2027: mandatory for businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more;
- 1 July 2027: mandatory for businesses with revenue below AED 50 million;
- 1 October 2027: mandatory for government entities;
- How it works: invoices are exchanged in the PINT AE format over the Peppol network through an Accredited Service Provider that each business appoints, and invoice data is reported to the Federal Tax Authority.

Which UAE Settings Should Customizations Respect?
Customizations work on top of Odoo’s UAE localisation. We keep tax, payroll and reporting logic standard, so VAT and Corporate Tax reports stay correct after every change.
VAT
VAT and the VAT201 return
Odoo’s UAE localisation sets up 5% standard-rated, zero-rated, exempt and reverse-charge VAT, and builds the VAT201 return in the FTA’s format for filing on EmaraTax. See the Odoo UAE documentation.

Corporate Tax reporting
Odoo’s corporate tax report shows net profit, exempt income, allowable deductions and disallowed expenses. Odoo ships no default tax categories, so accounts are tagged during set-up with your accountant.
Payroll

What are Odoo customization services in the UAE?

Can Odoo print tax invoices in Arabic and English?
Yes. Documents can be printed in the customer’s language, and we build bilingual Arabic and English layouts for tax invoices, credit notes, quotations and delivery slips with your branding.
Will customizations affect our UAE VAT and Corporate Tax reports?
Not if they are planned well. We keep tax calculation and reporting on Odoo’s standard UAE localisation and test the VAT201 and corporate tax reports after each change.
Can Odoo be customized without coding?
Often, yes. Odoo Studio adds fields, changes views and reports, and builds automation rules and approval steps without code. Custom modules are used when Studio cannot meet the requirement.
Can we customize Odoo Online?
Partly. Odoo Online allows configuration and Studio on plans that include it, but not custom Python modules. If you need custom code, the system runs on Odoo.sh or on your own servers.
Can you add approval steps to Odoo?
Yes. We add approval steps and spending limits to purchases, sales, expenses and other documents, with different rules for each company or department where needed.
Will customization affect future Odoo upgrades?
Studio changes and well-built modules can be upgraded, but every customization needs checking at each new version. We document what we change and keep custom code to a minimum.
How should custom invoice fields be planned for UAE e-invoicing?
Keep the data your Accredited Service Provider needs, such as tax registration numbers, tax codes and item details, in standard Odoo fields. Custom fields can then add information without breaking the structured invoice.
How much does Odoo customization cost in the UAE?
It depends on the number of changes, whether Studio is enough or code is needed, the documents involved and your hosting. Small changes are quick; larger packages are delivered in phases. You receive a fixed scope first.
Do you customize Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise?
Yes. Studio is an Odoo Enterprise feature, so on Odoo Community changes are made with configuration and custom modules. We explain the options for your edition before work starts.
